Niv Shimshon is a Hamilton-based photographer whose large-format portraits documents local residents of Hamilton, Ontario, in relation to their physical and social geographies to capture a sense of the city in flux and document Canadian identity in the 21st century.

An immigrant himself—having arrived in Canada in 2013 and in Hamilton in 2017—Shimshon’s work explores the emotional and social intricacies of his new home.
