Dead Sea Wedding Portraits – Mirit & Ido
When you eat at a restaurant in Israel and the food is too salty there is a saying that the cook who made the food is in love. So it just seems right to shoot two people in love surrounded by salt, and the Dead Sea in Israel is just the perfect place to do so. The Dead Sea is one of the world’s saltiest bodies of water, it is 10 times saltier than the ocean.
Mirit and Ido are very good friends of my wife and I. When we heard that they are getting married we were so happy!
“You are not shooting the wedding – we want you as a guest!” was the first thing they said to me. We agreed that I will shoot the wedding until we get to the venue (which in Israeli weddings takes place in the evening), then, they will hire a different photographer for the evening. That way I could participate fully in their wedding rather than seeing it through the viewfinder of my camera…
Not every day you get to fly across the ocean to your friends’ wedding. It was also the first time we visited Israel since we moved to Canada almost three tears ago, so I was excited to shoot them even more.
We decided to drive to the Dead Sea through the Judaean Desert a day after the wedding for their wedding portraits. So we did.
